About Jamie

Jamie has been creating works in various mediums for over 20 years. Her love of natural forms, color and the unexpected within the creative process have shaped her unique style and she has found a niche in alternative photo processes.

Jamie was born and raised in Central North Carolina. Throughout her childhood she spent her free time outdoors surrounded by the plants and wildlife of the area.

While studying math in college it became evident that her need to create and had grown past a hobby and into a passion for art. At UNC- Chapel Hill her interests settled into photography and in the color lab she began working with experimental processes.  She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in 2002.

Jamie has worked in frame shops, cut mats for a fine art dealer, and volunteered at the local art museums to stay close to her passion even when she did not have access to a darkroom. In 2009 Jamie rediscovered her photographic roots and embarked on her lifelong dream of being a working artist.  In 2010 she began building a darkroom and showing her Color Photograms at art festivals along the east coast.  For more on the darkroom and how it got built, check out the list of funding supporters and project blog via Kickstarter,

Jamie is a member of the Orange County Artists Guild. She and her husband currently live in Hillsborough, NC.
