Welcome to Blue Nandina Studio!
I am a North Carolina artist and my work is about bold colors, natural forms and the unexpected within the creative process. I work primarily in Photograms and abstract mixed media painting.
Photograms are created from scratch in the darkroom, no camera, no negative. I start by putting natural objects on the photographic paper and expose it to different colors of light. The bold colors and shapes that are unique to each print are revealed when I develop the paper.
My abstract painting combines watercolor paint, chalk pastels and ink. I work on wet paper to achieve different textures as the media dry and come together in unexpected ways.
